Useful Information About Warsaw

Access

By plane:

Warsaw’s Fryderyk Chopin Airport is located at 1 Żwirki i Wigury Street, approx. 13.5 km from the city centre.

The airport can be easily accessed by car, public bus or taxi.

Bus no. 175 will take you from the airport to the city centre (please get off at bus stop “Dworzec Centralny” for accessing the event’s venue). Bus tickets may be acquired at ticket machines at most bus stops as well as in the bus itself.

For the transfer from the airport we strongly advise using licensed taxi services offered at Chopin Airport (Ele Taxi, Sawa Taxi, Super Taxi), as well as, mobile apps (Uber, Bolt, iTaxi, Freenow). Please note that the taxi tariffs should be clearly displayed in the car window.

By train:

The station is in the close neighbourhood to the hotel.

Public transport  

All public transport tickets can be purchased at WTP points and at ticket machines, where both cash and credit cards are accepted.

The Warsaw metropolitan area is divided into urban zone ‘1’ (within the city limits) and suburban area ‘2’.

Taxis

When using taxis in Warsaw, it is strongly recommended that you use taxis with the following:

  • the symbol of Warsaw – a mermaid – on both front doors, yellow/red stripes affixed to glass along the front doors,
  • a number stuck to the side of the vehicle,
  • a hologram with the license number and the vehicle’s registration number on the upper right-hand corner of the front glass and a sticker with price information per km that must be displayed on the glass of the right-hand side back door.

Currency and credit cards 

  • The currency in Poland is the Polish Złoty (PLN; zł), 1 PLN = 100 groszy.
  • Currency should be exchanged at a registered exchange centre (marked as ‘Kantor’). There is no commission for the exchange.
  • Major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) are universally accepted.

Electricity

In Poland, the voltage is 230V, 50 Hz. The plug is the standard European double plug.

Security

In terms of security, Warsaw can be compared to other European capitals. Keep in mind some basic common sense principles.

In the event of any incident, you should call the emergency number 112.

Prohibitions

Smoking is prohibited at public transport stops and shelters as well as clubs, pubs and restaurants, unless they have separate rooms for smokers. Any person who disobeys this rule can expect to be fined.

You may not drink alcohol in public places (parks, squares, streets, etc.), with the exception of designated areas such as gardens and patios in restaurants and pubs. Any person who disobeys this rule can expect to be fined.

Złote Tarasy is a commercial, office, and entertainment complex in the center of Warsaw, Poland, located next to the Warszawa Centralna railway station between Jana Pawła II and Emilii Plater streets.  

Arkadia (shopping mall) in Warsaw, Poland is one of the largest shopping complex in Central Europe.
